About This Place

Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Coapa, Coyoacán, Pozolería Chilpancingo is a cherished gem for lovers of traditional Mexican cuisine, with a special focus on authentic pozole and Guerrero-style dishes. This inviting restaurant brings the rich, comforting flavors of Mexico directly to your plate, serving up generous portions in a warm, family-friendly atmosphere that welcomes locals and visitors alike.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Pozole Verde Con Agua Jamaica, a beautifully balanced dish where tender hominy and savory meats swim in a bright, vibrant green broth accented by the refreshing tartness of hibiscus water. Accompanying it are the delicately crispy Tacos Dorados Estilo Guerrero, which offer a satisfying crunch and a mouthwatering blend of seasoned fillings, and the Enchiladas de Mole Almendrado, rich with the nutty, chocolaty warmth typical of Guerrero’s beloved mole.

For those eager to explore further, the Picaditas con Cecina and Tostada de Tinga showcase layers of textures and flavors—smoky, tender meats paired with freshly made corn tortillas and vibrant salsas that tease your palate with every bite. The exceptional Chile en Nogada, a seasonal specialty highlighted by a luxurious walnut sauce with subtle hints of fruit and nuts, stands out as a sophisticated treat, a true testament to the chef’s respect for regional culinary traditions.

The dining space is unpretentious yet cozy, echoing the spirit of a Mexican home where meals are shared with warmth and hospitality. Guests often describe the service as friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming vibe. Prices remain remarkably reasonable for the quality and generosity of each dish, making it a great choice whether you’re enjoying a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner.

Patrons consistently applaud the authenticity and heart behind every plate. Juan Jose Espinosa Barallobre praised the restaurant for its "delicious and abundant" food and family-friendly setting, recommending it as a must-visit for anyone wanting a genuine taste of Mexican home cooking. Daniela Ortiz fell in love with the pozole and "tostada de tinga y pata," noting the irresistible flavors prompted her to plan a return visit just to try desserts like the flan and jericalla.

While some guests, like Yadira Navarro, have found their dishes tasty and recommend sampling the appetizer platter for variety, others, such as Di Pal, appreciate the fair pricing and quality even if certain dishes like the chile en nogada did not fully meet their expectations—highlighting the personal touch and variability inherent in traditional recipes.

In summary, Pozolería Chilpancingo is an authentic culinary experience that brings the rich, comforting tastes of Guerrero's traditional fare to Mexico City. Its heartwarming food, convivial atmosphere, and generous portions make it a dependable destination for anyone craving genuine Mexican flavors with that special homemade touch.

Would highly recommend getting the sampler appetizer. Not the best pozole I’ve had but it was good.
